My Ring

I haven't been wearing the ring that Buck gave me for fear that I would ruin it. It is a very old Hershey family heirloom and I would like to be able to pass it down. It is a 1920's Onyx/Cameo flip ring that was owned by Aunt Sylvia and generations before her. The clasp on the ring was loose and it would snag on everything. I finally decided to put it in a box and preserve it.

A few days ago, Buck and I decided that we would get it fixed and get it appraised. The jeweler was able to tighten the clasp so that it no longer snags. We were told that it is a real onyx, real ivory, a real diamond, and 14k white gold, and very very old. The filigree is very intricate and my favorite part of the ring. Today, you can find replicas all over the internet...but it's really cool knowing we have a real one. It was appraised for much more than we had thought (mainly due to age). But no matter what it is worth, it will stay in the family. It will be neat to see the value grow as it gets passed down.

The really neat thing is, we didn't have to get it sized. The woman/women who wore this ring before me had the same ring size as me. A ring size of 4 is rare, and it felt like this ring was meant for me.

I'm currently wearing it again, and getting asked almost daily about it.
